General Conference

Twice a year we meet together to be taught and uplifted by a Prophet of God.
As members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we are blessed to be led by living prophets—inspired men called to speak for the Lord, as did Moses, Isaiah, Peter, Paul, Nephi, Mormon, and other prophets of the scriptures. We sustain the President of the Church as prophet, seer, and revelator—the only person on the earth who receives revelation to guide the entire Church. We also sustain the counselors in the First Presidency and the members of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles as prophets, seers, and revelators. (1)

The scriptures teach us “Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets” Amos 3:7

As I think of the world we live in, having some guidance from a loving Heavenly Father seems like a pretty good idea! If God revealed truths and answers through prophets in the past, we certainly have as much need today, as mankind has ever needed before.

The general priesthood session for all Aaronic and Melchizedek Priesthood holders will be Saturday, April 6, at 6:00 p.m. mountain daylight time (MDT).

The general sessions for individuals and families will be Saturday, April 6, and Sunday, April 7, at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. (MDT)

Sessions are held in the 21,000 seat Conference Center and broadcast around the globe.

All sessions will be available to stream live at and in many locations, broadcast via satellite (to suit local time zones) in Stake and ward buildings.

Participating in conference is not a passive activity, we are encouraged to go with questions in our minds.

I find making notes while listening helps me focus. I divide my notebook into two columns with headings what is being said? and what am I prompted to do?

We have in recent years also been encouraged to share the messages we hear and the thoughts we have, via social media – as they happen…

To participate in general conference conversations on Twitter, use #GeneralConference or speakers’ recommended hashtags, or simply retweet quotes, videos, and images posted at @LDSchurch. The Apostles’ Facebook pages are another way to see and share their messages.

Perhaps more than any recent Prophet, President Nelson is “Hastening the Work” We need to listen to his words, if we are to be fully engaged in the Lords work.

Imagine explaining to a friend on April the 8th, that we believe in living prophets, and not being able to answer when they ask “what do they say?”
