He loves us One by One

Each time I consider the visit of Jesus to the Americas, as recorded in 3 Nephi, I find something new. As a Stake, the theme we have for 2019 is ONE BY ONE with reference to 3 Nephi 11:15

“And it came to pass that the multitude went forth, and thrust their hands into his side, and did feel the prints of the nails in his hands and in his feet; and this they did do, going forth one by one until they had all gone forth, and did see with their eyes and did feel with their hands, and did know of a surety and did bear record, that it was he, of whom it was written by the prophets, that should come. “

As we have shared this message around the stake, it has been amazing to gain different perspectives from members. On the last Sunday in March I was invited by my home ward Bishop to lead a 5th Sunday lesson on the theme ofONE by ONE. After showing the following video with the group, we had a discussion about the thoughts it provoked.

Personally I have always been deeply touched by the time Jesus Christ took to minister to individuals in this account. It records 2,500 people, at 10 seconds each that’s SEVEN HOURS ! I often ponder how I would feel looking into HIS eyes. However a member of the class opened my eyes to a new perspective…

I had always focused on the feelings of these individuals meeting the Saviour for the first time, but the point was raised… HE ALREADY KNEW THEM, personally and had felt all of their pains and anguish, having suffered for each of them (and us). So I know ponder, how did He feel meeting them.

No wonder he took the time to minister and greet them ONE by ONE

“Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me.” 1 Nephi 2:16
