Service Day

This past weekend sisters from around the Ashton England Stake gathered together for a service activity. Each ward had been collecting specific items to club together on this day and create baby boxes for women in the local community. The picture above is our Stake President, Stake RS President, representatives of each ward RS presidency and two charity representatives.

Our Stake Relief Society Presidency have been encouraging the building of bridges between wards and their local charities. These stake events are just a way of jump starting relationships.

Sisters gathered bringing assigned items collected in each ward over the past weeks. Blankets, nappies, books, dummies ect. They took part in two workshops where they discussed aspects of self reliance and then packed the collected items into 28 boxes.

The boxes are to go to 2 charities who will give them to new mums in need, that they have access to in the local community.

Relief Society helps prepare women for the blessings of eternal life as they:

  • Increase faith in Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and His Atonement;
  • Strengthen individuals, families, and homes through ordinances and covenants; and
  • Work in unity to help those in need.
