We have decided as a Stake Presidency, that whilst church meetings are suspended, we will share a spiritual thought to our members each Saturday Evening. I thought it would be good to put them here too, for future reference and for others outside of the stake to ponder if they wish. Week 1 of suspended church meetings is by President Harrott, our Stake President.
In clear sight.
Dear Brothers and Sisters as a Stake President, I just wanted to send you a little message.
What does it mean to be spiritually blind?
A few months ago as I was sat as a passenger in a friends car, I tried on his glasses and I was amazed at how clearer things looked. As I removed the glasses I was shocked at how blurry road signs were. I always thought my eyes were ok. I put the glasses on again and the signs were much clearer. Without the glasses I could see the signs and even read them but wearing the glasses made ALL the difference.
When I told my family about this they immediately told me to book an eye test. My daughter, knowing what I am like, and that I probably wouldn’t make the appointment, made it for me!
Leah did this only to help me. Sometimes in things that matter most we can think everything is ok.
Leah knows me and so wanting to help made me see things a lot more clearer.
Can you remember the time or times when the spirit opened your eyes? When you knew Heavenly Father was answering your prayers, when you knew through a witness of the spirit that the plan of salvation was all clear and not blurry.
Were you amazed at how clear the doctrines of the gospel were and how you just knew that the Saviour loved you.
When I read the Book of Mormon my testimony becomes so much clearer.
When I think of the Prophet Joseph Smith and read the accounts of the 1st vision my testimony is again made clear that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ appeared to the boy Joseph. It is clear to me that a restoration had to happen.
Prophets of old have told us that a restoration will happen ( Isaiah 29:4 + 9-12)
Jacob 4:13. As we listen to the spirit with a willing heart of faith things will be manifest unto us plainly for the salvation of our souls.
What a great blessing to live in a time of Prophets and Apostles. Back in October President Nelson asked us to’ immerse yourself in the glorious light of the restoration’. He also asked us to ‘prepare for a unique conference’.
This week has been a different time for us all. As we stay at home and partake of the Sacrament please, please, please study your scriptures. Use ‘Come Follow Me,’ listen to and read General Conference addresses.
This is a time to minister in a much more holier way. Look after each other, pray for each other and talk to each other. When the spirit whispers to you to help someone, follow the prompting and go and contact them.
As we follow the Prophet our lives will be blessed and our eyes of faith will not be blurry, the spirit will witness to you that what the Prophets and Apostles say is true and you will know as clear as wearing glasses that Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ love you.
That will make ‘ALL’ the difference.
As a Stake Presidency we love you , thank you for all you do, we are here to help in any way we can. Thank you.
In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
